Let little explorer’s globe trot, with their World Heritage Passport, and discover the wonders of the world. With awesome interactive workshops, trips, arts and crafts, fun activities and Wacky Welsh Wednesdays, keep them having fun all day.

26nd – 29th July: Blazing Blaenavon
Explore our very own World Heritage Site; Blaenavon Industrial Landscape. Get the taste of the welsh foods and take a trip through the eyes of an underground miners’ child! Local trip to big pit possible (subject to covid).

2nd-5th August: Fantastic France
Get a taste of the delicious Paris specials while celebrating the cosmopolitan French capital and the Eiffel tower through our amazing activities.
Monday 2nd August – Explore the tour de France and the royal saltworks
Make paper bikes for a cycle race, play sports games, make French crepes, and salt jars to take home.
Tuesday 3rd August – Paris
Make a matchstick Eiffel tower and eat croissants!
Wednesday 4th August – WELSH WEDNESDAY – the castle of Edward I
Become a king or queen for the day and defend Wales! Make crowns, swords and shields and participant in a tournament.

Make moon mobiles, space cookies and play games.

9th-12th August: Cornish Pirates Ahoy!
Ahoy there matey!! Let’s dig for bones and find X marks the spot while exploring how the Jurassic coast was home to some amazing dinosaurs.
Monday 9th August – Cornwall and west Devon mining Landscape
Learn about the tin mines of Cornwall, use tin cans to create your own artwork.
Tuesday 10th August – Jurassic Coast – Dino hunting
Go hunting for dinosaurs, make your own hatching egg, bake Dino fossil cookies and find out what dinosaur you would have been.
Wednesday 11th August – WELSH WEDNESDAYS
Trip to Blaenavon Ironworks, and a picnic (subject to weather).

Make Cornish pasties, Make a pirate hat, go on a treasure hunt, and make your own pirate boats with treasure! X marks the spot!

16th-19th August: Amazing Australia
Wow! See the size of that shark! The great barrier reef and shark bay is nearby! Let’s stop here to explore and get our hands dirty while looking at ways to save the plant with our 2nd annual youth climate festival.
Monday 16th August – Pumulu National Park
Learn about the origins of Australia, make aborigine art, a sorry plaque, and Naidoc artworks.
Tuesday 17th August – Great barrier reef Shark bay
Find out about the magical underworld world of the barrier reef, make glitter jars and under the sea.
Wednesday 18th August – PJ PARTY DAY
PJ PARTY. Hot chocolates, make cupcakes, marshmallows and watch films! Catch up on any activities from the last 5 weeks you’ve missed!
Thursday 19th August – Gondwana Rainforests of Australia
Learn about the species in the rain forest. Make rain shakers and eat tropical fruit.

23rd – 26th August: Americano Adventure
Hungry or thirsty? We’ve got you. Let’s learn to make big burgers and pit stop at Hawaii and dress up whilst sipping delicious smoothies. Explore the Grand Canyon and participate in circus games, showing off your own talents.
Monday 23rd August – Yellowstone national park
Learn about American animals and learn some circus skills for the day.
Tuesday 24th August – Statue of Liberty and Aztec ruins
Explore the statue of liberty making your own torch and have an American hot dog for lunch. In the afternoon make some Aztec printing, and bracelets.
Wednesday 25th August – CLIMATE FESTIVAL!
Learn to look after our planet with a 2nd annual climate festival. Upcycling workshops activities and fashion show.
Thursday 26th August – National Hawaii Park
Hawaiian lOU-OUT! BBQ, fancy dress, games, make your own Hawaiian skirt and garland.

Become a summer trainee
Aged 16-25? Looking for a voluntary opportunity over summer 2021 working with children and young people? Take on the challenge and help us run our summer workshops!
- £10/day PAID expenses to cover food and travel
- Relevant training will be provided
- Volunteer recognition
- Gain qualifications and skills for your CV
- Have fun, make friends and gain confidence!
Do I need any experience or qualifications?
NO! we will train you, all you need is a can-do attitude, an interest in working with children, and some interest in heritage.
What will I get paid?
You will receive a voluntary allowance of £10/day.
You will also gain a qualification, and be given uniform of a t-shirt, hoody and coat. Boots available on request.
What is the time commitment?
You must be available: 12-23th July Monday – Friday 9am – 3pm for training.
AND a minimum of 4 weeks over the summer holidays (22nd July – 30th August); you will be expected to work a minimum of 3 days a week, and on a Wednesday evening.
The summer program hours are Monday’s-Thursdays 8.30am – 3.30pm and late on Wednesday evenings – 5.00pm – 8.45pm.
Application process
- Submit an application form by the deadline.
- If successful you will be invited to an 30 minute informal interview where you will be asked about 6 short questions relating to your interest in the program, the skills you think you will bring to the program, and your knowledge of Blaenavon World Heritage Site. Don’t panic – you don’t need to know a-lot, we will train you. (Hint: find out WHY Blaenavon is a world heritage site!)
- You will also be asked to present (not deliver) a 10-minute heritage related activity.
- We will let you know if you are successful within 48 hours.
Heritage activity guidance
Task: Create a 10-minute fun heritage related activity for young people age 11-14.
- Choose the type of heritage you want to explore – it could be anything; dinosaurs, space, Victorians, mining, WW2, tudors, animal or plant history… what ever you find interesting!
- Think about what you want the young people to LEARN about heritage from the activity, and how you can make that fun.
- Think about WHO the young people might be – what if one of them had a disability, or low literacy – could they still understand and participate?
- The more creative, the better! See what you can do with balloons, or wool, stickers, paint, games etc…
- Create a plan and bring it with you.
- Create and bring any resources you would need to deliver the activity.
- You can find loads of examples and ideas online if you are stuck
